Morocco is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. It overlooks the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and has land borders with Algeria to the east, and the disputed territory of Western Sahara to the south.
Morocco’s climate can be divided into two parts: The northwest and the southeast. The largely populated areas of the northwest of the country mostly have a Mediterranean climate. There are obvious climate differences between the inland mountainous areas and the coastal areas. The inland summers are hot and dry, and the winters are cold and snowy. However, the edge of the Sahara Desert in the south has a desert climate that is dry and rainless all year round. The culture of Morocco is a blend of Arab, Amazighs, Andalusian cultures, with African, Hebraic and Mediterranean influences.
Generally speaking, the best time to travel to Morocco is spring and autumn. During this period, the climate in Morocco is neither cold nor hot. (If planning a trip to the Sahara Desert, it is recommended to bring a light jacket, as the nights can get cooler no matter the season.)
The first city that I think is worth visiting is Dar el Beida, also known as Casablanca. Casablanca is located on the Atlantic coast of western Morocco. It is a historical city in Morocco and the largest port city, economic center and transportation hub in the country. Casablanca’s landmark Hassan II Mosque is located in the northwest of the city, at the westernmost point of the Islamic world. The entire mosque can accommodate 100,000 people for prayer at the same time, making it the third largest mosque in the world. Perhaps the most attractive thing about Casablanca is the Atlantic Ocean. You can sit on the beach and drink delicious coconut water while basking in the sun.
Next is Fez. Fez is a veritable “museum city”, crowded with people but full of colors. Here you can see stunning buildings, such as the ancient city of Fez. This is the largest old city in Morocco and one of the largest medieval cities in the world.
